About Beth Black

Beth has a strong commitment to her local communities, she's a hard worker and is ready to give the people of Hunter an alternative choice at the next Federal election.

Beth is ready to  Work Hard and Get Results for Hunter. Hunter taxpayers pay their fair share of taxes but we certainly are not getting our fair share of the funding at either the State or Federal level. As long as the Hunter stays a safe seat we just miss out.

It's time for a change in Hunter

Beth is a small business person self employed on a small farm just north of Singleton. Beth has worked in the stock broking business, transport and heavy equipment in the mining industry and also worked for a Federal Senator for three years prior to taking over the family business ten years ago.

Beth is no stranger to harsh reality of drought in NSW and the severe impact on, not only primary producers, but on all the associated small businesses that are the backbone of our community.

Beth has lived most of her life in Singleton and has a deep commitment to achieving the very best for the Hunter region.

As a local business person, Beth says "

I KNOW the importance of achieving adequate funding and better resources for our region, and I can assure  you, I'm totally focused on that goal."

It's time Hunter received the reward and recognition of the enormous contribution made by this region to our economy.

Black Applauds Coalition’s Delivery of Bypass

Nationals Candidate for Hunter, Beth Black commended the Coalition on their commitment to deliver the Muswellbrook Bypass as announced by Warren Truss, Minister for Trade and Deputy Leader of The Nationals today.

This announcement is part of the Coalition’s 2020 Plan for Australia’s Transport Future, an integrated vision tackling local roads and national highways and will see $185 million provided for the bypass construction,.

Ms Black said the funding from a re-elected Coalition Government is on top of $5 million already provided for planning so it is possible to get this project underway as soon as practical and avoid the delays the people of the Hunter have seen to date.

The people of the Hunter have been calling for this bypass for years so this announcement will be welcome relief for all,” she said.

“I have taken this issue up with the Minister on behalf of the people of Hunter both personally and through The Nationals and I am pleased to see my efforts have come to fruition.

“This bypass will ease traffic issues through the main street of Muswellbrook leading to reduced noise and air pollution.  Safety will improve as the town will be less congested and the highway will have freer traffic flow,” Ms Black said.

The proposed route bypasses Muswellbrook to the east and will be a single carriageway 8.8 km in length.  It will deliver grade separated interchanges at the southern and northern connections with the New England Highway and at the Coal Road.

In addition there will be an off ramp to Sandy Creek Road for motorists travelling north on the bypass and an on ramp for motorists travelling south. This project includes two bridge crossings of the Main Northern Railway and overtaking lanes in both directions.

In making the announcement Mr Truss said the funding would be delivered through the Coalition’s AusLink National Network programme.

Coalition Delivers F3 to Branxton Link

Friday 9th November 2007

The F3 to Branxton Link Road is a step closer with the Coalition committing $887 million towards its construction, The Nationals Candidate for Hunter Beth Black said today following an official announcement by Minister for Local Government, Territories & Roads, Jim Lloyd in Seaham today.

“This announcement, combined with the announcement yesterday for funding for the Muswellbrook bypass will finally see these vital infrastructure projects to go forward,” Ms Black said.

“The F3 Link to Branxton will open up many possibilities for the Hunter through increased tourism opportunities, attracting new business and industrial development leading to an increase in employment and further demand for housing.

“While some may complain that the link will accelerate the urbanisation of Singleton, I point out that it will provide a better quality of life, reduced travel time, reduce highway accidents and loss of life.

“This Link is vital for the future growth of every community in the Hunter region allowing better traffic flow for through traffic and cleaner, quieter streets for our towns.

“I have been lobbying the Government for this link for numerous years and I, along with the people of Hunter, am grateful to see the message has got through and the Coalition is going to do something about it,” Ms Black said.

Mr Lloyd announced an additional $780 million of funding from a re-elected Coalition Government, on top of the $107 million already delivered.

The F3 Link will relieve congestion on the New England Highway and provide a 40km east-west connection of dual divided carriageway between the F3 Freeway at Seahampton and the New England Highway west of Branxton.

Mr Lloyd said the funding would be delivered through the Coalition’s AusLink National Network programme.
